"The driver of a licensed vehicle is required to hold a valid Hazmat Transport Driver Permit (HTDP) at all times when transporting hazardous substances. Prior to obtaining the permit, the driver must pass a security screening and attend a one-day Hazmat Transport Driver Course at the Civil Defence Academy or other accredited training institutes. Upon passing a test at the end of the course, the driver may be issued with the HTDP at the Civil Defence Academy. The HTDP is valid for a period of two years which requires the driver to renew the permit by re-applying and passing the one-day course again if he intends to continue transporting hazardous substances"
